National Honor Society

NHS Banner

The National Honor Society (NHS) recognizes outstanding HHS students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service, and character. Students who have completed the 2nd and/or 4th six weeks of their sophomore, junior, or senior year are eligible for nomination if they have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. After GPA verification, students are ranked by a panel of teachers on qualities of leadership, character, and service.

After an initiation ceremony, the group holds officer elections and participates in school and community service activities such as UIL Academic Competition, and our school-wide service project, Christmas Cards for soldiers. Scholarship awards are available for SENIOR members during the fall semester.
