Eaglettes Drill Team

After more than two decades, dance has returned to Hillsboro High School with the formation of the Eaglette Drill Team. The school has not had a dance program since 1999, when the beloved Strutters last performed on campus.

A drill team is a precision dance group that combines elements of dance technique, choreography, and synchronized movement to create dynamic performances. These teams are known for their high kick routines that showcase both individual skill and teamwork.

In its inaugural year, the Eaglette Drill Team boasts 20 dedicated members under the leadership of Shannon Epling, who brings the program full circle as the former Captain of the Strutters in 1999. Her experience and passion for dance education have been instrumental in reviving this cherished tradition at Hillsboro High School.

The team has already demonstrated exceptional talent and dedication. At summer camp, five girls earned the prestigious title of All-American Dancers, four received All-American Honorable Mention recognition, and six members were selected for Kick Company—a remarkable achievement for a first-year program.

Throughout the year, the Eaglettes will bring energy and school spirit to all Varsity Football Games and will perform at various other school and community events. The team is also preparing to enter the competitive circuit in the spring, marking another exciting milestone in their inaugural season.

The return of dance to Hillsboro High School represents not just the revival of a program but the continuation of a legacy that celebrates artistry, athleticism, teamwork, and Eagle pride.
